Boone girls’ wrestling defeats North Polk

The Boone girls’ wrestling team hit the mats Tuesday, January 13, facing Pella, Winterset, and North Polk and finished the night 1-2, beating North Polk.

The Boone girls’ wrestling team hit the mats Tuesday, January 13, facing Pella, Winterset, and North Polk and finished the night 1-2, beating North Polk. 

Dual 1: Pella 46, Boone 30 

Boone opened the night against Pella fell, 46-30.  

Poppy Malone set the tone at 110 pounds with a pin in 38 seconds, while Abigail Molitor followed with a fall in 58 seconds at 140.  

Gracie Vodenik earned a pin at 155 in the final second of the match, and Cadence Heggen added another fall at 190.  

Dual 2: Winterset 42, Boone 36 

The Toreadors came up just short in their second dual of the night, dropping a close contest to Winterset.  

Malone scored a pin in 1:35 at 105, and Reese Majors followed with a fall in 1:34 at 115. 

Molitor had a 49-second pin at 140. 

Dual 3: Boone 60, North Polk 12 

Boone closed the night in dominant fashion, rolling past North Polk, 60-12.  

Malone started strong with a 1:10 pin at 105.  

Brayleigh Haglund earned a hard-fought fall in 4:46 at 125, while Emersyn Zehner scored a pin in 1:44 at 135.

The Toreadors travel to Fort Dodge Thursday, January 15, for a dual meet.
