BOONE, Iowa—A two vehicle accident south of Fraser at Kale Road and 170th Street has claimed the life of 74 year old Larry Young of Boone, Iowa. The accident occurred shortly after 7:00 p.m. Monday when Young’s pickup, traveling south on Kale Road went through the stop sign at 170th Street. Young’s pickup was struck by a west bound pickup operated by 62 year old Kenneth Lendt of Ogden, Iowa. The impact caused Young’s pickup to strike a power pole and a couple of trees before coming to a rest. Lendt’s pickup also entered the south ditch and came to a rest between two trees. Young was pronounced dead at the scene and his body has been sent to the State Medical Examiner. Lendt was transported to the Boone County Hospital for treatment of his injuries. The Iowa State Patrol had no update on his condition. The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.
