The Boone volleyball team battled through five intense sets to earn a hard-fought Raccoon River Conference victory over Carlisle on Tuesday, September 30, at Boone High School.

The Toreadors rallied to win the match 3-2, improving their overall record to 6-9 and picking up their first conference win of the season.

Carlisle took the opening set 26-24, but Boone responded.

The Toreadors edged out set two 25-23 and carried that momentum into set three with a 25-20 win.

Carlisle bounced back in set four, winning 25-19 to force a decisive fifth set.

Boone dominated the final set 15-7 to seal the victory.

Jenna Johnson was a standout for Boone, orchestrating the offense with 25 assists, while also contributing 7 kills, 12 digs, and 4 ace serves.

Tria Hoyle led the team in kills with 10, and Madelyn Davidson matched Johnson with 7 kills of her own.

Defensively, Taylor Arringdale and Baylee Bunning each added 6 digs.

At the service line, Claire Hardinger was perfect, going 16-for-16, and Delaney Good was also flawless at 11-for-11.

Carlisle fell to 5-17 overall and remains winless in conference play at 0-4.

Boone will look to carry this momentum into the Newton Tournament on Saturday, October 4, where they’ll face a competitive field including Davis County, Eddyville-Blakesburg-Fremont, Knoxville, and Newton.
