BOONE, Iowa—The Iowa Economic Development Authority recently awarded $100,000 Main Street Challenge Grants. There were eleven projects from eleven Main Street communities. For the first time, Boone had a project that was successful in securing one of the eleven grants. Chris and Charise Seymour and their business partner, Teresa Mueller presented the project for 705 Story Street. Multiple grants are supporting their project. Those include working with the City of Boone with the Downtown Incentive Fund for façade work. Grants for tax credits for the housing portion of the project are also available. The Main Street Challenge Grant is a matching grant for a selected project.

At this time, the plan is to restore the stone façade, a primary focus of Main Street, include a first floor cheese and cocktail lounge, and have two upstairs apartments.
