Boone School Board holds Ribbon Cutting for Crossroads Learning Hub

KWBG 08/20/23

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone School Board on Friday, held the second ribbon cutting ceremony for the new Crossroads Learning Hub, located on West 8th Street. The building was designed by 10Fold Architecture and Engineering from Ames. Grabau Construction was the general contractor. Funding for the construction of the Crossroads Learning Hub comes from the state’s one-cent sales tax or the SAVE tax, distributed to school districts for infrastructure purposes.

The building serves two of the Boone Community School District program areas. One is the district’s Home School Assistance Program which works directly with parents home schooling their children. Barb Biersner is the Director for the program. The other program is Futures Alternative High School and Kim Kitterman is the Director for Futures. The Futures portion of the building also houses the District’s popular Toreador Food Pantry. The two programs are separated by a small gym area. An Open House is planned during Homecoming weekend in October.
