The Boone girls swim team competed at the Bobcat Invitational Saturday, September 20, and emerged with a strong third-place finish among seven schools, scoring 179 points behind Johnston and host Marshalltown.
In individual events, Avery Howie placed 2nd in the 50 Yard Freestyle in 26.14 and 2nd in the 100 Yard Backstroke at 1:05.17.
Claire Enabnit placed 3rd in the 100 Butterfly (1:10.96) and the in the 200 IM (2:32.80).
Her sister, Lucy Enabnit, finished 9th in the 200 Free in 2:21.74 and 11th in the 500 Free in 6:20.82.
Makenzie Klatt placed 5th in the 200 IM and 5th in the 100 Backstroke.
Harper Houston finished 8th in the 200 IM in 2:46.15, and Quinn Houston scored a 9th-place finish in the 100 Free.
Morgan Cox and Savannah Witte joined Lucy Enabnit in the 200 and 500 Freestyle races, all finishing in the top 12.
In the 200 Yard Freestyle, Cox was 11th in 2:23.09, and Witte was 12th in 2:26.87.
In the 500 Yard Freestyle, Cox was 10th in 6:18.78, and Witte was 12th in 6:44.15.
In the 100 Butterfly, Boone placed three swimmers in the top 10 — Claire Enabnit, Finley Houser, and Ashlyn Burkhart.
Houser finished 6th in 1:17.60 while Burkhart finished 9th in 1:23.70
Boone’s 200 Yard Medley Relay team — Howie, Klatt, Claire Enabnit and Quinn Houston finished third with a time of 2:03.64.
The 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Quinn Houston, Howie, Klatt, and Houser placed 4th, clocking in at 4:06.28.
Finally, the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay of Tessa Gute, Claire Enabnit, Sara Gute and Rachel Ungs finished 6th in 1:58.28.
With a 14-4 overall record, Boone heads into the heart of the season.
Their next meet is Saturday, September 27, at Lincoln High School Pool in Des Moines, with races beginning at 11 a.m.
