Boone swimming dominates Des Moines East

The Boone girls’ swim team delivered a commanding performance Thursday, September 18, defeating Des Moines East by a score of 121-49 in a dual meet held at East High School in Des Moines.

The Boone girls’ swim team delivered a commanding performance Thursday, September 18, defeating Des Moines East by a score of 121-49 in a dual meet held at East High School in Des Moines. 

The meet opened with a win in the 200-yard medley relay, as the team of Claire Enabnit, Avery Howie, Makenzie Klatt, and Sara Gute clocked in at 2:08.90. 

Howie had a stellar night, winning both the 200 freestyle (2:10.28) and the 100 butterfly (1:14.81). 

Claire Enabnit also doubled up with wins in the 100 freestyle (1:05.11) and 100 backstroke (1:13.63). 

Klatt took first in the 50 freestyle (28.42) and was runner-up in the 100 fly. 

Lucy Enabnit won the 200 IM (2:44.12), while Quinn Houston claimed the 500 freestyle (6:08.44). 

The 200 freestyle relay team of Klatt, Claire Enabnit, Tessa Gute, and Sara Gute won in 1:55.29. 

The 400 freestyle relay team of Howie, Tessa Gute, Finley Houser, and Quinn Houston closed the meet with a in 4:13.46.

The Toreadors are back in the pool tomorrow at the Bobcat Invitational in Marshalltown. Diving begins at 9:30 a.m., with swimming events starting at 12:30 p.m.
