Boone swimming rolls past Indianola

The Boone High School girls swim team delivered a commanding performance Thursday, October 16, defeating Indianola, 102-63, in a dual meet at the Indianola Wellness Campus.

The Boone High School girls swim team delivered a commanding performance Thursday, October 16, defeating Indianola, 102-63, in a dual meet at the Indianola Wellness Campus. 

In individual events, Harper Houston led the way with a first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle (2:21.29), followed closely by Savannah Witte in second (2:25.30).  

Boone also swept the 200 Yard IM, with Morgan Cox (2:39.56) and Sara Gute (2:45.70) taking the top two spots. 

Claire Enabnit claimed first in the 100 Yard Butterfly (1:09.52), while Finley Houser added a second-place finish (1:16.32). 

Avery Howie added a first-place finish in the 100 Yard Backstroke (1:06.5) and a second-place finish in the 100 Yard Breaststroke (1:21.35), with Makenzie Klatt close behind in third (1:22.69). 

Enabnit also placed third in the 50 Yard Freestyle (28.63), just behind Houser in second (28.40). 

In distance events, Klatt and Quinn Houston finished second and third respectively in the 500 Yard Freestyle (5:54.94 and 6:04.33).  

Boone won the 200 Yard Medley Relay, as the team of Brenna Bruck, Maylin Griffis, Harper Houston, and Houser posted a time of 2:24.21. 

The 200 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Cox, Enabnit, Houser, and Griffis placed second (1:56.14), and the 400 Yard Freestyle Relay team of Howie, Witte, Lily Wright, and Quinn Houston also took second (4:24.61).

Boone now turns its attention to the North Central Conference Swimming and Diving Meet, set for Thursday, October 23 at 10 a.m. in Grinnell.

Previous: Boone volleyball falls at Carroll
Next: Mike Gibbs and Fred Greiner with the Boone Area Veterans Center provide an update on the status of the project. Most of the activity has now turned to fund raising and their goal remains $5-million to construct the new building at 807 6th Street. The most recent update is that they are at 21% of their goal. Greiner says that’s ahead of the amount expected at this time. Gibbs says there will be a fund raising opportunity planned for November 15 with Moffitt Ford. Aired Friday, October 17, 2025.
