Boone volleyball picks up two victories

At its home tournament over the weekend, the Boone volleyball team was able to add two victories to the win column.

At its home tournament over the weekend, the Boone volleyball team was able to add two victories to the win column. 

The Toreadors defeated Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, 21-17 and 21-14, and Fort Dodge 21-10, 16-21 and 15-10 on Saturday, Sept. 28. 

The Toreadors went 2-3 for the day as they also played Ames (lost 21-19 and 21-13), Forest City (lost 21-14 and 21-13) and Knoxville (lost 21-12, 21-10). 

Against Clarion-Goldfield-Dows, junior Tria Hoyle and senior Emma Wiebold nailed 5 kills each. 

Junior Madilyn Barrett had 4 kills in 6 attempts for a .667 hitting efficiency, and junior Jenna Johnson had 19 assists. 

Senior Agnese Pappalardo had 7 digs while senior Hayleigh Lingo and Hoyle had 2 blocks each. 

Lingo served well, going 7 for 7 with 2 aces. 

Against Fort Dodge, Boone served well as a team, going 92%.  

Lingo again led in ace serves with 3, and Wiebold went 8 for 8 with 2 aces. 

Senior Addie Tungesvik led the defense with 18 digs. 

Johnson contributed 21 assists, and Wiebold had 6 kills. 

The Toreadors (4-13) are back in action tonight as they travel to Carlisle (15-7) in Raccoon River Conference play.
