BOONE, Iowa—Two years ago there were no names on the ballot for two Park Board positions and voters filled the seats by write-in. This year there were seven candidates on the ballot for Boone Park Board. Voters Tuesday selected John Niemants to remain on the board. Niemants had served on the Park Board previously and was appointed to the board to fill the vacancy when Everett Johnson passed away last year. Niemants received 1,026 votes. Kevin Pearson was second in the voting with 979 votes and Amy Landas, the longest serving Park Board member received 969 votes.
Following the top three, David Sherry finished fourth with 718 votes, Levi Baber received 565 votes, Brandon Hurley had 490 and Sarah Colby received 400 votes.
Election results are unofficial until canvased by the Boone County Board of Supervisors next week.
