
Boone’s Ajay Braddock was champion at 132 pounds as the boys’ wrestling team finished 4th at the Bob Sharp Invitational in Ankeny on Saturday, January 17.
Braddock rolled to a championship, beating each of his opponents by technical fall.
Braddock won 17–1 in the quarterfinal, 20–3 in the semifinal and 21–6 in the championship.
Easton Landas at 106 put together a strong performance to claim 3rd place.
Landas opened his day with a pin in 1:46.
After falling in the semifinal by tech fall, he stormed through the consolation side with a pin and closing with a 3–1 decision in the third-place match.
Owen Thomas at 150 also finished 3rd in a comeback performance.
Thomas lost his opening match by fall, then surged through the consolations with a pin in 1:18, a 13-0 major decision victory and a 15-0 tech fall victory in the 3rd place match
In addition, Trent Eckard at 175 delivered a strong showing, placing 3rd.
Eckard earned pins in both his quarterfinal and consolation semifinal, then locked up 3rd place with a 9–3 decision.
Aiden Harris at 113 finished 4th.
After a first-round bye, Harris lost, but he bounced back with a fall in 1:50.
Harris was pinned in the 3rd‑place match, taking home fourth place.
Tate Hollenkamp at 144 also earned 4th place.
After a first-round loss, Hollenkamp pinned his opponent in just 18 seconds, then won by tech fall before coming up short in the 3rd‑place match.
Brody Warrick at 165 earned 4th place, securing two tech falls along the way.
Warrick won by tech fall in just 1:15, but faced stiff challenges late in the day, finishing fourth after a 9–1 semifinal loss and an 11–5 decision in the third-place match.
Mason Oostenink at 120 battled to place 5th.
After an opening-round pin, Oostenink faced tough opponents in the middle rounds.
He capped his day with a dominant 19–3 tech fall.
Hayden Nerem at 215 earned 6th place while Isaac McCloud at 126 and Anthony Heenan at 138, and Macon Robinson at 190, and Vincent Stevens at 235 all placed 7th.
