The Boone volleyball team opened its season on the road Thursday, August 27, falling to Carroll in straight sets, 3-0.
Junior setter Callie Gifford finished with a team-high seven assists and also recorded three ace serves and was perfect on her six serving attempts.
At the net, junior Claire Hardinger led the Toreadors with five kills, while senior Jenna Murray added four kills.
Junior Halle Johnson contributed four assists and added an ace serve.
Defensively, senior Karsyn Smith led the team with 11 digs.
Hardinger added five digs, while Johnson chipped in four digs.
Junior Payton Stolte provided two total blocks for the Toreadors.
This week, Boone lost a conference match at North Polk, 3-0, Tuesday, September 1, before going 1-2 at a quad at West Marshall, Thursday, September 3, defeating host West Marshall, 2-0, and losing to Prairie City-Monroe and South Tama County, 2-0.
Stats for this week’s matches are currently not available as of late Friday morning, and match summaries will follow at a later date.
Next week, Boone (1-4) will host Ballard (4-2) in their home opener at 7:10 p.m. Tuesday, September 8, at Boone High School.
The game will be broadcast on KWBG, FM 101.5, AM 1590, and will stream on kwbglive.com with sports director Ryan Wendt on the call.
