Casotti Defeats Stines, Williamson and Hammer Win Contested Council Races

BOONE, Iowa—Boone voters have selected Dave Casotti to serve as the the next Mayor for Boone. Casotti defeated incumbent Mayor Elijah Stines with 1,359 votes to 1,244. Erin Drake finished third in polling Tuesday with 110 votes and Cole Eric Perkins received 58 votes.

Councilmember Linda Williamson has apparently been re-elected to serve as a Councilmember-at-Large collecting 1,199 votes with Ginny Mitchell receiving 1,194 votes.

The First Ward Council seat has been won by Jordan Hammer. Hammer collected 257 votes to 174 for Autumn Weaver.

Councilmembers Lisa Kahookele, Third Ward and Kole Hilsabeck, Fifth Ward were unopposed and were re-elected.

Voters selected two incumbents to the Boone Park Commission. Kevin Pearson received 1,556 votes and John Niemants received 1,312 votes. Marc Peter has been selected to fill the remaining seat, finishing second in voting with 1,378 votes. Joshua Anderson was fourth with 1,229 votes.

All results are unofficial until the votes are canvased by the Boone County Supervisors next week.

Previous: Boone Mayor Elijah Stines talks about the Boone City Council meeting held Monday. Stines reported a fairly quick meeting. A Public Hearing was held on a project to rehabilitate the Ground Storage Reservoir at the Water Treatment Plant. Bidding will be the next step. Stines noted that several engineering contracts were awarded to SEH for development of plans for projects at Boone Water Works, including a new transmission main to run on the northside of the city to the Boone Industrial Park.
