Dr. Julie Trepa, Superintendent, Boone Community School District. Trepa talks about the Boone School Board meeting. First we talked about absenteeism and attendance due to illness. She says absenteeism is up due to illness. She also encourages parents not to send sick children to school. She talked about next year's school calendar. The Board adopted it Monday. There are no more early outs on Wednesday's in the 25-26 school year. She also talks about the budget work the Board will be addressing, noting that 2% increases in funding from the state can't keep up 3% and 4% increases in the cost operating. She says for those with concerns about gambling there are different ways to make contact to find out if service opportunities are available. She also talks about presentations she's done recently about opioid addiction, vaping, and more. Aired Monday, February 10, 2025.

Light ice accumulation from freezing drizzle will affect much of Iowa beginning in Southern Iowa this morning, then expanding north through the day.
