Toy’s for Tots Campaign Tops $275,000

JOHNSTON, Iowa—Fareway presented a check for $275,173.70 Monday afternoon to the U.S. Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots Program in support their 2024 Toys for Tots campaign, which provides toys to children during the holiday season. Mikaela Kienitz, CEO of the Boone County Hospital on Health Talk talks about the business of health care. Through December the hospital saw increased patient numbers and revenue on the inpatient side. The number were some of the highest in two years, with a lot of respiratory cases and an increase in flu cases. The trend has continued into the new calendar year. The number of births in the past calendar year at 130 and near that number expected in 2025. Several community events coming up including another Silent Disco at Boone High School on February 2nd to raise funds for Project Be The Light. Aired Monday, January 27, 2025.

The February calendar has just been made available and they review some of the many activities planned for the library. One of the first is on February 1st, it's Take Your Child to the Library Day beginning at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, February 4th, there will be a Ledges Hibernation Celebration at 6:30 in the evening. He points out there are other landfills in the state going through the same challenges. He says efforts are underway to try and divert as much as possible through recycling, but it will be a limited impact. He also touched on operating hours for weekends during the winter season.
