Sgt. Ryan Palmer, Boone Police Department, talks about public safety tips during the summer season, especially burglary reports. He noted that reports are down but the risk remains. People need to lock their vehicles. He reminds people that if you see something, you should say something. He also reminds parents and guardians the there is a curfew and those under 18 could be cited. Palmer says for those attending the Boone County Fair, pay attention to traffic and drive defensively. John Roosa, Administrator, Boone County Landfill and Recycling visits about the ongoing effort to preserve and extend the life of the Boone County Landfill as much as possible. Roosa noted that the Boone County Landfill is not the only landfill is Iowa facing a space challenge, while others have potential space for many years. Roosa also talked about long range requirements and meeting some of those needs with projects now, specifically handling leachate. Aired Wednesday, July 16, 2025.

The Boone School Board has decided to drop the Family Liaison Program contract with YSS and use the resources to create a similar district position. The Board also approved creating another position for a kindergarten teacher because of the projected enrollment. Next week features duel workshops for youth that auditioned and were selected for parts in “The Wizard of Oz: The Deleted Scene” and “Oz”. Performances for both will be next Friday and Saturday. We also heard about the “50th Anniversary Extravaganza” to be performed September 12th and 13th. The shows will include various scene and songs from the 50 year history of BCT.
