Eli Stines, Boone Mayor talks about items that came up during the regular Council Meeting on Monday. City Administrator Bill Skare officially told the Council he is retiring at the end of the fiscal year. Stines says he will seek proposals from search firms to aid the Council if finding a new Administrator. Christopher Levi, Janae Erickson and Aimee Oakley-Runyan are directing Seussical, the next production for Boone Community Theatre. Rehearsals for the two dozen member cast have been underway for sometime and the productions are scheduled for February 27th, 28th, March 1st and March 6th, March 7th and March 8th. The family oriented production will also feature a Birthday Party prior to each performance and during each intermission. Aired Monday, February 03, 2025.

He also talked about a bill he's put in the Commerce Committee to address matter related to the Summit Carbon Solution Pipeline. His bill would seek 100% land owner participation. He also noted there are a number of projects that will continue including some related to the the Daisy Project. Skare also noted that the Council recently review the Sanitary Sewer Inflow and Infiltration program and will be moving ahead with the 7th Phase in the next fiscal year. Through December the hospital saw increased patient numbers and revenue on the inpatient side. The number were some of the highest in two years, with a lot of respiratory cases and an increase in flu cases. The trend has continued into the new calendar year. The number of births in the past calendar year at 130 and near that number expected in 2025. Several community events coming up including another Silent Disco at Boone High School on February 2nd to raise funds for Project Be The Light. Aired Monday, January 27, 2025.

He points out there are other landfills in the state going through the same challenges. He says efforts are underway to try and divert as much as possible through recycling, but it will be a limited impact. He also touched on operating hours for weekends during the winter season. Aired Wednesday, January 22, 2025.
