Central Iowa Woman’s $150,000 Lottery Win a ‘Dream Come True’

KWBG 03/24/25

CLIVE, Iowa — A central Iowa woman said she couldn’t believe her luck after scratching off a $150,000 lottery prize.

“It doesn’t seem real yet,” Penny Miller said on Monday as she claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Clive. “We were looking at the ticket every hour. We thought we were going to wake up from a dream and it’s not real. But it’s real!”

Miller, 58, of Boone, won the second top prize in the Iowa Lottery’s “Feeling Lucky?” scratch game. She bought her lucky ticket at Casey’s, 114 Mamie Eisenhower Ave. in Boone.

Once she uncovered the big prize, Miller immediately called her husband, Corey, with the good news.

“He couldn’t believe it,” she said. “We were just very emotional because we’re almost ready to retire, and this will help tremendously. To pay some bills off and just be financially OK is a dream come true.”

Feeling Lucky? is a $10 scratch game that features six top prizes of $150,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.15. For more information about this game and the number of prizes still available, visit ialottery.com.
