Charles Lee

BOONE, Iowa—Charles “Chuck” Earl Lee passed away unexpectedly at home January 2, 2025, at the age of 75.

Chuck was born January 6, 1949, to Willard Dale Lee and Gertrude “Peggy” Gibson Lee of Cedar Falls, Iowa. He graduated from Cedar Falls High School in 1967. He met the love of his life Patricia Anne Bingaman in the summer of 1968. They were united into marriage on October 25, 1968, and in this union of marriage came two children, Sheri Lynn and Brian Christopher.

In Chuck’s earlier years he worked at the Iowa State University for 3 years, later he became a programmer at Sundstrand (Danfoss) in Ames, after an early retirement from Sundstrand he was employed by the State of Iowa with the Department of Personnel. Later he wanted to get closer to home and transferred to the Iowa Department of Transportation in Ames and had a 20-year career with them before another retirement.

While living in Nevada, Chuck and Pat enjoyed following their children in all their sporting activities, while also coaching youth bowling at Sports Bowl. 1990 brought them to Boone where they could be closer to their first grandchild, while living in Boone, Chuck helped out at Imperial Lanes with the youth bowling program there. He enjoyed bowling, fishing, golfing and camping with family and friends and always putzing around in the back yard.

He enjoyed watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren in all their activities, sports, plays, concerts, bowling activities. He was a proud grandpa and great-grandpa. He was very handy and could “MacGyver” anything and duct tape was his be all fix all tool in is possession with his “Red Green” attitude was “if the women don’t find you handsome, they at least should find you handy”.

Chuck was proceeded in death by his parents: Dale and Peggy Lee, Father-in-law William “Bill” Bingaman, Brother-in-law Phillip Michael Bingaman, and great granddaughter MacKenzie Kathrine Stephens.

Chuck is survived by his wife Patricia of 56 years, Daughter Sheri (Ron) Stephens, Son Brian (Jennifer) Lee. Grandchildren: Trevor (Amanda) Stephens, Rachelle (Jordan) Gerrard, Jordan (Jacob Stern) Stephens, Kamden (Heather Stout) Lee, Kaity Lee. Great-Grandchildren: Brooklyn Buttz, Rhett Stephens, Kailey Stephens, Rollie Gerrard and Ella Stephens. 3 Brothers: Bob (Debra) Lee, Gary (Patti) Lee, Randy (Sandy) Lee, 4 Brothers-in-law: Randy Bingaman, Tim (Billie) Bingaman, Rick Bingaman, and Todd Bingaman, Sister-in-law Kathie Bingaman and Mother-in-law Harriet Bingaman, several nieces and nephews. Most of all his 2 beloved fur babies: Barkley and Patches.

A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, January 15, 2025, at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Chuck’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
