Charlotte Anderson, 97, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Charlotte Mae Anderson, 97, of Boone, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2026, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home, where she had been a resident since March 2019.
Our Valentine girl, Charlotte, was born on February 14, 1929, to Ralph B. and Lillian (Wallace) Jackson. She attended school in Boone, where she has been a lifelong resident. She earned her GED in 1989.
Charlotte was united in marriage to Ralph Anderson on July 14, 1947, and they shared 54 years together before Ralph’s passing in 2001.
For many years, Charlotte was employed as lead cook at the former Imperial Inn restaurant in Boone and had the pleasure of meeting Mamie Eisenhower on one of her visits to Boone. She then worked for Iowa State University as a telephone operator before retiring in 1991.
Charlotte was a member of the Central Christian Church, where she served on various committees. She loved cooking, baking, crocheting, floral arranging, and reading, among various other interests. She was a “Class A” bingo player and loved winning quarters and prizes. She also never missed a chance to play Chinese Checkers.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ralph, in 2001; her son, Arnie, in 2020; her parents, Ralph B. and Lillian Jackson; her brother, Ralph Eugene Jackson; and her sisters, Elizabeth Jackson, Sharon Holmberg, and Janet Cross.
Charlotte is survived by her daughter, Alana “Lana” Russell of Boone, IA; sons, Richard Anderson of Utah, and Darrell Anderson of Ogden, IA; grandchildren: Joe (Kiah) Russell, Wendy (Erik) Marcum, Mike Anderson, and Michelle Wilson; numerous great-grandchildren; sister, Judith Rossey of Arizona; and sister-in-law, Faye Tysdal of Johnston, IA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the American Heart Association.
Funeral services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026, at the Central Christian Church in Boone. Interment will be at Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery following the funeral service. Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be before the service from 12:00 p.m. until 1:00 p.m. at Central Christian Church.
The Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, Iowa is assisting the family with these arrangements.
