Cheryl Tilley, 79, Boone and the Eastern Star Masonic Home, Boone, Iowa

BOONE, Iowa—Cheryl Tilley went home to be with the Lord at the age of 79, on Monday, July 20, 2026, at the Eastern Star Masonic Home in Boone.

Cheryl was born October 21, 1946, in Boone, the daughter of Virgil and Doris (Mengel) Leichliter. She was later united in marriage to Richard Tilley on July 2nd, 1980.

Cheryl worked as a cosmetologist at Spurgeon’s for a number of years. She then worked as a crossing guard for the city of Boone; a site manager for congregate meals and helped with the deliveries; helped lead a group of widows and widowers, called Lados; and was a foster parent from 2000 to 2008.

Cheryl attended Cornerstone Alliance Church in Boone, until her health would not allow her too anymore. She enjoyed having Bible Studies in her home.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Virgil and Doris Leichliter: husband, Richard Tilley on December 31, 1999; sister, Pat Edwards in 2020 and her brother, Gary Leichliter in 2014.

Cheryl is survived by her son, Wayne Tourville; step-son, Mark Tilley; two nieces, Michelle Babcock and Jennifer Filipiak; nephew, Brad (Trishia) Filipiak; great-nieces and great-nephews, Ashley Bell, Damien Bitters, Tyler Bell, Amaya Filipiak, Michael Filipiak and Abigail Filipiak; and her brother-in-law, Phil Edwards.

A funeral service will be held Monday, August 3, 2026, at 2:00 PM at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone, with Pastor Brian Bopp officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Boone Memorial Gardens Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Cheryl’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
