with us on coach's corner here in KWBG gonna talk a little Madra Boyce track today as the Tigers last in action at the Seidel Invitational and Steve Perkins and I were just kind of visiting Offair we're starting to get the team back where we'd like him to be Steve now we just got to get him out on the track and kind of see where they are right now yeah we've been I bet some of our kids really banged up and I think we're getting close we'll have everybody back on the track in some capacity everybody's not like full go like you know multiple events quite yet trying to see where we're at tonight here for tonight's meet but after that we just want to keep as we've been saying the kids keep moving forward to those that are a little banged up so we can get to the point where we can get them back full go but all the rest of the guys we keep working and moving along in the right direction trying to build and see where we're at kind of moving a lot of pieces around a lot of kids I should say moving them around a different spot different events trying to mount different things just kind of keep collecting data throughout the course of the year to see the direction we want to go with putting realizing events and individuals together for you know that's where you qualify immediately which is coming up upon us pretty quick Steve when you talk about we need to know where they are but we can't rush kids back that's got to be difficult on coaches that's got to be difficult on the kids too when do you start feeling a little bit more confident is it kind of a meet by meet basis yeah I think every kid by kid basis just to see where they're at you want to make sure they're healthy and ready to go before they come back but ultimately when it comes to point time you got to test out and see where you're at and keep moving along in that direction so yeah I think everything's in a different spot kids are working hard and rehabbing those kids that are banged up a little bit the kids that are here we're proud of their work ethic and what they do each and every day have some kids that split into some spots that have become varsity track runners for us and they're doing a tremendous job and we're really pleased with what they're doing alright let's talk about Seidel because Jevin Severson continues to have just a really strong season finished second in the shot put was third in the discus Jevin give me some thoughts on him how's he progressing yeah you know the throws there Jevin the competition over there in Seidel you know he just missed the Drake really qualifying in the shot put just short of getting in but for Jevin to add as a sophomore from where he's progressed as a freshman he just consistently in that you know 52 plus range and keeps on progressing that capacity the PR wants to get in the discus him and the rest of those kids and the throws you know they do a nice job getting themselves ready to compete and just trying to be at their best each and every time and just taking things day by day and step by step they take their approach to their events very serious and on the shows with their results Relays I know we're just kind of visiting about those and getting those kind of where we'd like to see during the season I thought at that meet though I mean 4x1 finishes fifth sprint medleys in fifth as well was fifth too I mean the relays I know maybe time wise aren't where you like to see him but boy we're still here in April and I know we're not quite pressing that we gotta hurry up button but the kids ran pretty well that night yeah I think you know those relays that you mentioned plus 4x2 we all ran personal best on the year and all those relays but great improvement at all at Seidel there was what I think was a 15 team meet and the competition there is extraordinary awesome you know that's what we go there for is to compete in these different events and have great competition you know we're going to get that again tonight as well at our home meets but these over and over again producing good times and move some different people, some different kids around it's different spots that they have normally not been in or hadn't been in yet this year but you know in our 4x2 a PR by 3 seconds our sprint medleys right at near our best all year at 139 we had a little PR by 4 seconds kids were getting better there our 4x1 PR as well so I mean we can't be disappointed in improvement and getting better so we're very pleased we're right there and hopefully tonight take another step in the right direction as well obviously another kid that we've talked about I know a couple of times so far during coach's corners Kenneth Grimm has been a lot of fun to watch this season as well coach he seems like somebody especially when you see him get after the 400 hurdles I know that's a tough race there's no question about it I love how he attacks that back stretch though yeah we're looking at Kenneth here he's one of these kids he's back now full capacity getting in the events he wants tonight he'll run the shell run the 400 hurdles so first time coming back off a little injury he had as well he's been back but he kind of hasn't been full goal in the hurdles and tonight we're looking forward to seeing what he can do in those as well as a couple other guys as well and yeah, Kenneth does a great job preparing being very intense with his events and what he needs to be we're looking to keep on progressing him forward and seeing where he's at he ran 59 low had a good start and we're going to keep on hopefully improving on that throughout the rest of the year we'll do some good competition in that event tonight as well so we'll get some guys to really push in we can have a nice PR in that event as well tonight another kid that I wanted to talk about this week with you Steve was Kevin Peele and just really have enjoyed watching him run obviously for the last four years for a matter of but he's really been that guy that you can you can put him in a relay if you need to you can put him in the obviously the 3200 I mean that's a kid very interchangeable for this Tiger group yeah, Kevin nice job he's invested a lot of time in the off season and he's our senior leader for our distance crew he came out and he's ran more 800 this year for him that's a sprint you know and what he's used to and he's done a nice job there as well and he's got a nice little crew there in that 4x8 that they're developing together as well and he's got the flexibility to move him around it's a different spot because he's got him down to 400 this year where he's ran the best he's ran all the career and it's really good to see those signs out of Kevin and seeing that the work is paying off so yeah, very pleased with Kevin very nice job by him coaches always thank you so much for some time best of luck and we'll talk to you again here in a couple of weeks okay thank you much you bet Steve Perkins again joining us
