With us on Coaches Corner, KWBG, going to talk some boon softball as postseason is here. Torridors will host Carol coming up tonight. That'll be a five o'clock first pitch from Gary Kreisman Field. And I guess maybe, Lindsay, that's where we'll start. It sounds like you thought maybe there could be some potential for weather. Is that why the start time kind of got moved up? No, good question. We actually had a couple issues with just our lights. And we've had to delay a couple times. And so just to prevent any issues with the lights going out, we just want to make sure it can be daylight and we can get the game in. But the weather has definitely been all over the place. So that's another factor, I suppose. No, that's true. That's true. Well, you had a chance to get a couple of games in before postseason, Lindsay. So tell me, I mean, obviously last week, we had talked before the Perry game, got a nice win there. Winner set pulls the heartbreaker earlier in the week. What did you think about the last two games? Yeah, I mean, obviously, Perry was a nice win. A lot of girls got involved in the game, got to see kind of our depth and what's coming for the future of Linsoppa, which is super exciting in that regard. Winner set is a heartbreaker. That's one of the games that I'm probably going to hang on to for a really long time. But like I told the girls, good teams know how to win. And Winner set figured out how to win. But at the end of the day, we actually started in season tonight. So that game, what we wanted to do was take away what can we learn from that and what can we grow from to implement the next three. So this is really the season that really matters. So had to let it go, had to move on, find what we need to grow from, and find some wins. Because there were some wins in that game for sure. Lindsay, I know, obviously, you've coached 29 games coming into tonight. I know you've coached youth as well. Have you ever had a box score that looked like the one versus Perry? I looked at that after you posted it, Lindsay. Did you ask the bus driver if they wanted to hit two? I'm just asking because it looked like everybody got a chance to play that night. Yeah, it was really great. We just loved seeing everybody see some success. Because these girls work really hard. This is a really long, hot, hard season. And what we asked them to do is not easy. It's not for everyone. So to get everybody a shot to see some rewards was exciting. And yeah, I was really proud of each of the girls. All right, so this is obviously an opponent that you have seen not just this year, but over the course of years. Everybody pretty familiar with each other, I think, to be fair. How has Carol maybe changed, Lindsay, since the last time you faced him back on June the 22nd? Yeah, the question, I think Carol's record is deceiving. 4 and 26 has a lot of conference games. We live that, right? I am still confident, even in our record, that we could tackle some of the best teams in the state. And Carol's the same way. They've seen every competitor we have. They have a young coach. They are hungry. They know that they are out absolutely nothing by coming in and doing everything they can. So we just need to be prepared to play boon softball and not play to the level of our competition. If we play how we know we can play, we can beat anybody. So that's just the message that we want to articulate to them. But they will come ready because they are out absolutely nothing. And that's just how it is in this game. Anybody can be anybody on any given night. Well, something that you guys have done a really nice job when you have come up with wins. And I was looking back just during the season. You score early, first and second innings when you guys get. And you don't even have to ask for a big crooked number. But you get about two or three, maybe even four runs, those first couple innings, Lindsey. Boy, that goes a long way, especially in postseason. Yeah, we've actually been generating quite a few runs here recently. It's actually exciting. The big key for us is scoring early, right? And limiting big innings. The games where we kind of got behind, we should have won. It's where we gave up one beginning. And lately, the girls have been figuring out, like, ooh, stop this train right now. And I think that's been a really big growth here to us. That if we are able to do that to some of these better teams, we will see success. Something else that has been very successful for I to look back on this because it has been really impressive, actually. Defensively, Lindsey, I know you guys put a lot of pressure on when it comes to how you hit. But defensively, you put a lot of pressure there, too. It feels like teams can't just get the free bases on you this year. No, I agree. That has been really a growth area for us to make sure we're limiting our errors, that we are limiting extra bases. It's definitely not perfect, but I do believe we have really grown. Even if you watched the Winters that game the other night, they added just an incredible play. Brooke looked back to grow up third through to Timmy. At first, she fired home. We got a double play. It was just clean, solid, softball. And that's what we're looking for for them is growth in those areas. Mistakes are going to happen. But where we can, we want to limit extra bases. You still do have a relatively young team, Lindsey. Did you sit down with them at all and explain just the differences between postseason and regular season? Or do you just trust that these girls understand that this is a little bit tighter here tonight? Yeah, no. We've really tried to highlight that this season starts over tonight. We get a chance to go really far and that every game matters. Every action we do in practice matters. Every play, every pitch. As long as they're ready to go every pitch, we're going to be ready to go. So yes, I think we've tried to prep them for that, hopefully. And we're just excited to see what they can do with these next three games. What about you, coach? First, postseason opportunity for you to be involved in things that are a little bit, you know, you win, you move on, you lose, you call it a season. How do you think your nerves are going to be tonight? No, that's valid. I think tonight feels a little different because we're home. So there's field prep. It's when you're home, there's a little bit different feel. When you've got two and a half hours to sit on a bus and think about it on the way, I think my nerves will be a little higher on Saturday. But no, it's just a bittersweet to think about. It feels like we just started, in all honesty. It does not feel like we're at this point already. The season has really flown by. So for myself, just trying to enjoy every moment and not relish on the bad, find the good. That's what we tell them. And then think about what can we do to get better is rarely where my mindset is. I'm excited to see what they can do. And I think if we go into it with that attitude, I think we can do some good things. Lindsay, as always, thank you so much for some time. Best of luck tonight. Thank you so much, Ryan. You bet. Boon softball as we talk with Lindsay Hyman joining us on KWBG.
