Transcript

With us on coaches corner KWBG get a chance to talk us some boon football chat client joining us tory doors We'll head up. Well, believe it or not back to council bluffs again as they'll take on council bluffs Thomas Jefferson and coach I think we knew this portion of the season had a chance to be pretty darn difficult when you looked at Gilbert Iowa Falls ADM Lewis Central. I'm not gonna worry about each game for game. How are the kids doing right now with this tough stretch? Doing good, you know, it's They knew a couple of those games were going to be real tough because you know, we get this is our rank part of the schedule You're looking at a couple teams that are Top 10 all three of my think right now are in the top 10 In their divisions and so, you know, the one that we really struggled with coming out afterwards of Iowa Falls You know, we we didn't feel and we talked a little bit last time we met about how we performed in that game And I think that was more on us than it was The the opponent so we were kind of down from that one a little bit did bounce back with the ADM game You know, even though we lost 28 to nothing that we thought we we found some things in that game that we could kind of hang Our hat on where we were then last year last week with Lewis Central. We knew you're looking at a Top tier team that's no bounces between that 5a and 4a level and you're walking out your captains to midfield before the game and Our biggest one of our biggest kids is dwarfed by three of the guys that are standing out there You know, you kind of know what what's coming. You know, you read the things all the

Stats and everything else, you know, they they picked up the kid from That gave us a lot of problems from TJ last year He's one of the leading receivers in the state for them now and so we knew that battles in the uphill But no, we went into it going. Okay, what do we what do we need to see after this game? And I and our kids got is what we need to see even though the scoreboard Doesn't look like it. We we found some life and some things and some things to Put our hang your hat on for the last three weeks And kind of see what happens see where we can end up after these three that are ahead of us Well, and I think and the main thing I know I asked you when I first gave you a call was you know Just how the kids attitude is at practice And if there's one thing that that I can tell you guys about Chad Klein is he will not sugarcoat it with me and he He told me straight out Kids attitudes have been great and I mean Chad, that's that's a huge key You go to practice every day when when struggling is going on you get kids that are pointing fingers and stuff man That that's just toxic for everybody. We haven't had that though. Have we? No, no these kids have been great. You know the leadership on them, you know, we've had a lot of you know injuries We're battling through we got you know It it gets to be a long season I think we were talking just this morning. I was talking where it's 10 weeks in if you go back to We're in week seven you're going back to when we started yeah, and so it's hard this season Ten weeks to be around each other old is gets to be a lot But then you start talking about they've been around actually since first part of first week in June We've been together so it gets me a long stretch and I've been really impressed with these young men of Their attitudes they come to practice every day. They're excited to be around. I've Never hear them talk crap about anybody things like that. So They are doing the right things. They are I know when we need them to move positions. They're moving positions. We need them to Do different assignments, they're doing a different assignment. They're asking the right questions. They're They're working for the team aspect and trying to be the best team they possibly can be in The coaching staff and I really appreciate All their hard work and their energy that they bring day in day out Chad when you hear I've got to move an offensive lineman Now you as a head coach understand what that means Johnny on the street that hears that probably goes well. He's just another guy. You just put him in the position Can you kind of explain to folks what it's like and what it has been like? We're I mean, I'm not making excuses here, but let's be honest You guys have been decimated on the offensive line this year. Can you kind of explain it in Terms that Ryan on the street can understand when you talk about moving linemen around Yeah, definitely. You know, as I we talked before no yesterday at practice. We were We look back to where we scrimmage Carlisle and Carol In week two of the preseason One of those guys that was on that Starting off at the wine was left at practice yesterday So, you know, we've been putting pieces in offensive line is the toughest spot in my mind On the field because of all the intricate all the little details you have to have between just your own footwork your hand placement, but then every single play and Sometimes you're bigger more athletic people across from you Yeah, it's tough and then just to plug somebody in to say, okay now on this play you're gonna go Step this way and you have to work your way across It's tough and it's hard to be plugging those guys in especially when we're already replacing all five from last year And now I think this year we've played nine people I think up at the offensive line so far and two of them have been Converted tight ends so they have some experience at least with the footwork and the hand placements and everything else, but yeah, it's tough to You know kind of replace those guys and right now. It's every injury we get every Little ding we get is always coming from the same position group right now And we've been battling the kids have been stepping up. I said we've had kids that are stepping into that role for us and making that commitment to make the team better and it's a Non-glorified position at all that are the most important and most needed position to be good at When you look at teams that are good at playing especially on the offensive side So yeah, it's that's been one of the one of the struggles we've been having but you know, we work with those kids Every day and they're working on the same techniques and work on getting them better. Yeah, that's all you can do coach Let's talk about your opponent coming up on Friday night Council bluffs Thomas Jefferson another trip over to council bluffs I didn't know if the coaching staff may be considered renting a house over there or not But anyway, I digress tell me about TJ What are you expecting here tomorrow night? You know TJ's coming in the Program that Haven't seen a lot of success this year have some really good pieces. They're going through a transition They had they had a large senior class. It was very talented last year graduate And then they had some of their better pieces like it said before loose central picked up one of their the best receivers in the state came From TJ So they're in a transition and then they like a whole new coaching staff So they're going through that process. They do have some pieces. They're getting better. We can we get a few lots of films They're starting to see some development We like some of the things that we can do we think we match up Physically better with this team So we're going to use that but yeah, it's definitely going to be a battle tissue as things have been happening up front for us But yeah, that's what we're kind of kind of see You know, they're going to play some freshmen at the varsity level So hopefully they'll try to take some advantage of that But yeah, we're looking for a talented doing they've scored some points on special teams So we have to do our job on defense to really close some gaps To make sure we don't give up any big plays and then offense just work on one One first down at a time, you know, make sure we find ways to get Maddox the ball You know one of those big pieces and we've been kind of moving some pieces around and I'm at quarterback and adding some formations that can help a little bit and Try to find ways to spread the ball out and try to find ways to be successful and move the ball down the field Chad is always thank you so much for some time safe travels to council Bluffs and now we'll talk to you again next week for homecoming Okay, great. Thanks, right. You bet Jack Gleinigan joining us boon football here on coaches corner
