BOONE, Iowa—Funeral arrangements are being held for 78 year old Constance Frances Dennis of Boone, Iowa. She passed away at Windsor Manor in Webster City, Iowa on January 6, 2021. She had been a resident at the Windsor Manor in Webster City since June of 2016.
Connie was born on August 16, 1942 in Buffalo, New York, the daughter of Clarence and Frances (Stubbs) Gordy. Connie graduated from Oskaloosa High School and William Penn University in Oskaloosa, Iowa. On August 28, 1965, she was united in marriage to Roger Dennis at the Methodist Church in Oskaloosa, Iowa. Connie was a High School Biology Teacher. She was also a business owner that owned and managed farms. She worked on the farm with her husband Roger until his passing in 1990.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Boone, Iowa. She bowled on leagues at the Bowl Mor Lanes and Imperial Lanes for many years. She also loved spending time with family and friends. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandchildren Austin and Kiersten Carlson.
Connie was a very loving mother and grandmother. She always had a smile on her face and a kind word to share. She enjoyed vacationing at her lake home in Clear Lake, Iowa and also vacationing in sunny Florida during winter months over the years. She enjoyed meeting her friends at McDonalds for breakfast and conversation during the week in Boone was always a cherished moment. She will be missed dearly by her daughter and grandchildren.
Connie was preceded in death by her husband Roger Dennis, her daughter, Sherri Dennis, and her parents Clarence and Frances Gordy. She is survived by her daughter, Tricia Dennis Carlson of Heathrow, FL; her grandchildren: Austin Carlson of Boone, IA and Kiersten Carlson of Webster City, IA; her brothers: Greg (Diane) Gordy of Oskaloosa, IA, and Dennis (Pam) Gordy of Camarillo, California; sister-in-law, Karen Horne of Pawleys Island, S.C.; nieces; nephews; other relatives; and friends.
Funeral Services will be 10:30 am on Saturday, January 9, 2021 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home, 609 7th Street, Boone, IA. Interment will be at Linwood Park Cemetery, Boone, IA. A visitation with the family will be present to greet friends will be from 5:00 pm to 7:00 pm on Friday, January 8, 2021 at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home. Memorials are suggested to the family to be determined at a later date.
