BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council will finally have a Lightedge connected matter on their agenda Monday. Public comments during two previous meetings were dominated by the topic of data centers and in particular comments about Lightedge considering a colocation site in the Boone Business Park south of U.S. Highway 30.
In September, the Executive Committee of the Boone County Economic Growth Corporation signed a Letter of Intent to sell 10 acres in the Boone Business Park to Lightedge Solutions, LLC. Last week, the City Plan and Zoning Commission reviewed a site plan submitted by Boone Edge LLC, for a colocation data storage center in the Boone Business Park. The site plan was forwarded to the City Council with a unanimous recommendation for approval.
The Council will not only consider the site plan but a Memorandum of Understanding on topics the City will seek in a Development Agreement. The MOU covers topics like utility usage and infrastructure, water conservation, waste water protection, outdoor lighting, sound monitoring, tax incentives and minimum assessed value. The MOU indicates that Lightedge is not seeking any City incentives for it’s project and Lightedge will be responsible for any construction related damages to current infrastructure.
The Boone Business Park is currently home to Forselles II Partners, LLC (CDS), Proliant Biologicals Inc., Patterson Logistics Service Inc., and Boulders Inn Boone, LLC (Cobblestone).
The Boone City Council meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m. Monday at the Boone City Hall.
