Crop Weather and Markets, Topics for Ogden Program

KWBG 03/13/19

OGDEN, Iowa—How will spring and summer weather conditions affect 2019 crop production and market prices? Based on this information, market price objectives can be set and a written plan developed to pre-harvest market new crop bushels using Revenue Protection (RP) crop insurance.

Iowa State University Extension and Outreach is hosting an Ag Marketing Club meeting on March 14 beginning at 6:30 p.m. and doors opening at 6 p.m. The workshop will be held at the Leonard Good Community Center, 114 SW 8th St. in Ogden.

The featured speakers will be Steve Johnson, ISU Extension Farm Management Specialist and Dennis Todey, director of the USDA ARS Midwest Climate Hub. They will teach on crop weather and market outlook, and participants will discuss an example of a written new crop marketing plan.

The meeting is free and open to the public thanks to sponsorship from Vision Bank and Iowa Corn. For further information, please contact the Boone County Extension Office at (515) 432-3882.
