Davies homers in busy weekend for Boone

The Boone baseball team came out swinging in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader sweep over Carroll, Friday, June 27, winning Game 1 by a score of 13-4 and following it up with a 10-0 shutout in Game 2.

The Boone baseball team came out swinging in a Raccoon River Conference doubleheader sweep over Carroll, Friday, June 27, winning Game 1 by a score of 13-4 and following it up with a 10-0 shutout in Game 2. 

Boone 13, Carroll 4 

In the opener, Boone’s offense exploded late, scoring 12 runs across the final three innings.  

Lucas Moore led the charge with 3 hits, 3 runs, 2 RBIs, 2 doubles, and a stolen base.  

Cole Bowers added 2 hits and 4 RBIs, while Tyler Lindahl and Tate Carlson each contributed multi-hit games.  

On the mound, Reid Carr went the distance, striking out two and securing the win. 

Boone 10, Carroll 0 

Game 2 was all Boone from the third inning on.  

A 6-run third and a 4-run sixth sealed the mercy-rule victory.  

Lindahl threw a complete game no-hitter with 2 strikeouts. 

Offensively, Moore stayed hot with 2 hits and 3 RBIs, and Cole Bowers added 2 doubles and a stolen base. 

Prange Classic 

Boone kept the momentum going in the Prange Classic Tournament in Ankeny Saturday, June 28, opening with a 14-4 rout of Algona.  

The Toreadors scored in every inning, including a 6-run fourth.  

Landon Youngblood had 2 hits, 3 RBIs, and a double.  

Walker Smith earned the win in relief, striking out 7. 

In Game 2, Boone fell 9-5 to a tough Sioux City Bishop Heelan squad.  

Despite the loss, Noah Davies provided a spark with a 2-run homer and 2 runs scored. 

Conor Scoggins struck out four in relief but took the loss. 

Boone 11, Gilbert 6 

Boone wrapped up the stretch with an 11-6 win over Gilbert in a game that resumed this morning after a weather delay.  

The Toreadors jumped out early with 4 runs in the first and sealed it with a 5-run seventh.  

Ryan Bowers drove in 3 runs, while Moore, England, and Tate Carlson each scored twice. 

Reid Carr and Drew Hayworth combined for 3 strikeouts on the mound. 

With the recent wins, Boone improves to 15-8 overall and 7-5 in the conference. 

Next up, Boone travels to Des Moines Lincoln (6-20) for a non-conference matchup at 5:30 p.m. tonight.
