Dennis Kester

BOONE, Iowa—Dennis Kester, 70, of Boone, passed away Saturday, November 23, 2024 at his home. Cremation has taken place.

A Celebration of Dennis’ Life will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025, from 2:00 to 6:00 PM at the Iowa National Guard Boone Armory, 700 Cpl. Roger Snedden Drive, Boone, IA 50036.

Dennis Kester was born to Frank and Belva (Dailey) Kester in Boone, Iowa on February 19th, 1954. He attended Iowa State University, before moving to Texas.

Dennis was a spouse, son, brother, uncle, and friend who was loved dearly. During his time in Houston, Texas he worked for Custom Accessories as a Senior Design Consultant for the top kitchen and bath accessories company. He also spent his years managing Tony’s Bar in Boone and also worked in retail at Von Maur thereafter. Dennis was a shopper and loved to spend his time browsing the clothing aisles. In his most recent years, he worked at the Rose Center where he enjoyed helping others. The Rose Center was a significant part of his life as he would help with decorations, dinners, and transportation for individuals. Alongside, Dennis had the biggest heart for animals and loved his pets dearly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Belva (Dailey) Kester; his brothers, Ron and Butch Kester; his sisters, Kathy Martin, Carol Smith, Rowena Bray, Nadine Miller, Lettie Ann Kester, Gertie Kuil, and Donna “Jeannie” Porter; and his brothers-in-law, Burdell Martin, Larry Porter, and Robert Bray. He held a deep affection for his siblings and always looked forward to the day he would be reunited with them.

Dennis is survived by his life companion, Louie Valenciano, whom he loved so dearly for over 40 years. The two met in Texas in the 80’s and later moved to Iowa.

He is also survived by his siblings, Randy Kester of Boone; sisters-in-law, Penny Kester of Boone and Nancy Taghlebi of Richmond, Texas; and brother-in-law, Amer Taghlebi of Richmond, Texas.

Also survived by his many nieces and nephews, great and great-great nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Dennis’ family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com
