Dennis Pelleymounter, 78, Boone, Iowa
BOONE, Iowa—Dennis Michael Pelleymounter, 78, of Boone, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2026, at his home.
He was born July 6, 1947 in Osage, Iowa, to Kenneth and Eileen (Barnes) Pelleymounter. Dennis was active in band, wrestling, and Boy Scouts in school. He graduated from Osage Community High School in May, 1965 then obtained a degree in drafting from NIACC in Mason City.
Dennis was employed by an architectural firm in Mason City where he designed the “new” firehouse in Osage in the late 60’s. He then worked for Oliver/White Farm Equipment. He returned to NIACC to obtain an engineering degree. While helping his dad with his flooring business on nights and weekends.
It was during one of those weekends that he met Vicki Jo McGhan. They were married October 23, 1970 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Osage. Vicki attended NIACC as well to earn a RN degree. Together they raised three sons, Scott, Andrew and Aaron.
During his career as an engineer, Dennis worked at Hydrotile in Nashua, IA, Superior equipment in Morris, MN, and Quinn/Besser in Boone, IA.
Dennis has been active in Boy Scouts his entire life, his sons and grandson included. He was a Life Scout and he served numerous positions from Scoutmaster to District Commissioner in the Winnebago and Mid-Iowa Councils. He was awarded the Silver Beaver for outstanding adult leadership.
He has been a member of the Knights of Columbus since the age of 18. Dennis has been a life-long member of the Catholic Church.
Dennis’s hobbies included scouting, fishing, woodworking, carpentry, tile and carpet laying, attending his grandkids’ sports and so many other activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Eileen; grandparents; many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Dennis is survived by his wife of 55 years, Vicki Jo Pelleymounter; son, Scott (Kassie) Pelleymounter and their sons, Tyler, Kaleb, and Jacob; son, Andrew (Jamie) Pelleymounter and their children Cydnie, Cole, Lucas, and Drew; son, Aaron (Nicole) Pelleymounter; brother, Mark (Susan) Pelleymounter and their three daughters, Lauren, Emily, and Jennifer.

Visitation is Wednesday, March 4, 2026, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel, 1006 6th Street, Boone.
Mass of Christian Burial is Thursday, March 5, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Sacred Heart, 915 12th Street, Boone. The mass will be livestreamed and can be viewed on Dennis’ Tribute Wall on the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel website.
A graveside service is Friday, March 6, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Cemetery, 3531 Orchard Road, Osage, IA 50461. Immediately following the graveside, everyone is invited to Limestone Brewers, 518 Main Street, Osage, IA 50461, for a Celebration of Dennis’ life.
