KWBG 11/15/24

CHARLOTTE, N.C.—The NJCAA announced Thursday that Des Moines Area Community College (DMACC) will host the first-ever NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship in 2025. The tournament will be held at Cedar Pointe Golf Course in Boone, Iowa from May 13-16, 2025.

“DMACC, along with its great staff including President Rob Denson, Director of Athletics BJ McGinn, and Head Golf Coach Chris Seaboch, will partner with the staff at Visit Boone County to provide a Championship atmosphere for all involved including coaches, players, and spectators,” commented BJ McGinn. “Our community is appreciative of the chance to host such a high-class event.”

The original nine holes at Cedar Pointe are believed to be one of Iowa’s oldest golf courses.

“Des Moines Area Community College is excited to host the first-ever NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship in Boone, Iowa,” Director of Athletics BJ McGinn shared. “We know Cedar Pointe Golf Course along with its staff, specifically the Pat Clemons Family and course superintendent Cory Henson, will have the venue in Championship condition.”

The NJCAA has sponsored Women’s Golf since 1976 and began the Division I and Division III championships in 2022.

“We are looking forward to having the inaugural NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championship this coming spring,” NJCAA Division II Women’s Golf Committee Chair, Kevin O’Connor said. “Cedar Pointe Golf Course and the Des Moines Area will provide the teams and individuals with a wonderful venue for this event.”
