Developer Seeks Rezoning for Multiple Family Housing Project

KWBG 12/13/21

BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Plan and Zoning Commission meets Monday morning to consider a request to rezone property on the south side of Boone at South Linn Street and Hawkeye Drive for a multi-family housing project.  The property is located on the northwest corner of the intersection.  The developer is seeking to rezone the property to an R-3, Multi-Family District from the current C-1, Special Commercial District.

Overland Property Group, LLC has secured tax credits amounting to $840,000 for the construction of 43 family residential units called The Reserves at Hawkeye.  Previously the Council had not indicated support for rezoning the property.

The Plan and Zoning Commission will consider the request and will make a recommendation for the City Council to consider, possibly at their next meeting on December 20th.
