DMACC Automotive Program Receives Donation from Mercedes Benz

KWBG 12/17/20

·                     DMACC automotive students will receive hands-on training on the Mercedes-Benz C300.

·                     DMACC’s automotive program chair calls the partnership with Mercedes-Benz a wonderful opportunity for DMACC students.

ANKENY, Iowa—Mercedes-Benz USA  LLC has made an investment in the DMACC Automotive Technology program by donating a 2015 C300 vehicle and a Xentry diagnosis kit with scope for student training.

“Our partnership with Mercedes-Benz USA has been a wonderful opportunity for students and we are thrilled to cultivate this partnership for years to come,” DMACC Automotive Department Program Chair Jerry Burns said.  “The donation of a vehicle and the Xentry diagnostic tool kit to the MB Campus automotive program is essential to providing exemplary educational experiences and hands-on training for students at DMACC.”

Burns said the vehicle will be used by automotive technology students to learn about the latest technology installed on Mercedes-Benz vehicles.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to call you our partner on this initiative and hope you feel the same! This program is something that we hope continues to be mutually beneficial for your faculty, students, and our dealerships,” Mercedes-Benz Program Manager AJ Klemczak said.

DMACC Automotive Technology students will be learning about the technology on Mercedes-Benz vehicles in the new Karl Chevrolet Automotive Technology Center, located on the Ankeny Campus and set to open in the spring semester.  The multi-million dollar expansion and renovation of the facility will add more than 60,000 square-feet, new classrooms, a student lounge, 22 additional vehicle work bays, as well as a state-of-the-art showroom to improve the visitor and prospective student experience.
