DMACC’s President at World Food Prize Laureate Announcement

KWBG 05/09/24

WASHINGTON, D.C.—DMACC President Rob Denson had a front row seat at the 2024 World Food Prize Laureate announcement at the U.S. Department of State in Washington DC. The event included comments from U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken and Ambassador Terry Branstad who unveiled the 54th and 55th World Food Prize laureates, Dr. Geoff Hawtin from the United Kingdom and Dr. Cary Fowler from the United States. Both played a critical role in preserving crop diversity, in part by supporting seed banks around the world. Each laureate will receive $250,000 to help them further their work to combat world hunger. The World Food Prize was the vision of Des Moines businessman John Ruan when he launched this important initiative in 2004. DMACC offers a robust agriculture education program based on the Ankeny Campus and a 300-acre farm located outside Adel.
