Dorothy Halling

BELMOND, Iowa—Dorothy Ann (Limbrey) Halling, 94, passed away at Belmond Rehabilitation Center in Belmond, Iowa, on Thursday, January 26, 2023. Dorothy was born in Topeka, Kansas, on June 11, 1928, to George and Lydia (Droege) Limbrey. She attended schools in Topeka and Miltonvale.

Dorothy married Richard Halling in Hernando, Mississippi, on July 19, 1952, while Richard was serving in the Air Force. When Richard was discharged from service, they moved to Iowa to farm. Dorothy worked at Bourns in Ames when the children were young. She later worked at JC Peterson Clothing and Boyd’s Dairy in Boone.

Dorothy is survived by her son, Ron of Blairsburg, IA; daughter, Jane of Columbia, SC; daughter, Mary (Richard) Harman of Meservey, IA; grandchildren: Tammy (Chad) Parks of Chandler, AZ, Matthew of Dows, IA, Marc of Williams, IA, Brad of Blairsburg, IA, Brandon (Amaris) of Virginia, Horace of Columbia, SC, Michael (Jessica) of Ames, IA, and Jayson (Holly) of Parker, CO; 11 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard; parents; brothers: Art, Arlon, and Ted and their spouses; sister, Betty and her spouse; Richard’s brothers, sisters, and their spouses; two great-grandsons and one great-granddaughter.

Visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 2, 2023, at Schroeder-Stark-Welin Funeral Home. Burial will be at Linwood Park Cemetery at a later date.
