Dorothy Phipps

ADEL, Iowa—Dorothy Phipps, 86, of Adel and formerly of Boone, passed away Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Adel Acres in Adel.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Thursday, August 8, 2024, at Mineral Ridge Cemetery, Ridgeport, Iowa.

Dorothy was born August 17, 1937, in Des Moines, the daughter of Orie and Lucy (Morris) Stewart. She was united in marriage to Douglas Phipps on January 16, 1992 in Boone.

Dorothy was a member of the Open Bible Church in Boone and the Boone VFW Auxiliary Post 817. She has been a resident of Adel Acres, where she was affectionately known as Pickle, for almost four years. Dorothy enjoyed doing crafts, thrift shopping and hoarding yarn.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Doug Phipps in 2004; two brothers, Jim Stewart and Duane Stewart; great-grandson, Liam Ahrens; and son, John Zachar.

Dorothy is survived by her children, Judy Ahrens, and Jamie Phipps; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; step-children, Gary (Paula) Phipps; Terrie (Jim) McGuire; Ann (Randy) Martin; 9 step grandchildren and 11 step-great-grandchildren; brother, Don (Barb) Stewart; sister, Janice (Kevin) Clemens; two sisters-in-law, Gina Stewart and Marcia Stewart; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to the Open Bible Church, 1224 Hancock Drive, Boone, IA 50036 or New Hope Church, 25712 US-6, Adel, IA 50003.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Dorothy’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
