Downtown Arch Moves Ahead

KWBG 10/21/25

BOONE, Iowa—The next step in the Downtown Boone Arch restoration project is underway. This week, hydro-excavation began for the footings for the Arch. The Downtown Boone Main Street Executive Director Holly Stecker says the footings will be 18-feet deep with 12-inch rebar centers. Once concrete is poured, it’s expected to take three weeks to cure. The Arch will be 84-feet wide and 22-feet tall with a 16-foot clearance. 5th street will have closures on both sides of Story Street while work continues. Story Street will remain open, but drivers should remain cautious due to construction.
