DES MOINES, Iowa—The National Weather Service in Des Moines updated drought information from the U.S Drought Monitor and it shows that drought conditions continued to worsen across the state. Extreme Drought in northwest Iowa expanded in the past week and Severe Drought also saw a sizable increase by about 6%. Boone County remained in Moderate Drought, but Severe Drought conditions covered large portions of Polk and Webster Counties. Locally, only six-tenths of an inch of rain was recorded at the Boone Water Environment Station in October. That normally would have been about 3-inches.
