DES MOINES, Iowa—The Weekly U.S. Drought Monitor map shows that drought conditions diminished in the past week. As expected, last weeks rain, especially over North Central Iowa led to the improvement. The new map now shows only a small area of drought in far Western Iowa, a part of the state that’s been plagued by drought almost all summer. Moderate Drought conditions amount to just over 2%. Abnormally Dry conditions increased from seven and a half percent last week to nearly ten and a half percent for this week.
