Elsie Collins

BOONE, Iowa—Elsie Collins, 78, of Boone, passed away Sunday, October 13, 2024, at her home. Cremation has taken place.

A graveside inurnment service will be 11:00 AM Friday, October 25, 2024, at the Squire Boone Cemetery, Boone. There will be a Celebration of Elsie’s Life on Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 2:00 to 5:00 PM at Toby K’s Hideaway, 1723 Mamie Eisenhower Ave., Boone.

Elsie was born August 13, 1946, in Boone, the daughter of Victor and Elizabeth (Whiteaker) Eckley. She attended school in Boone and graduated with the Class of 1964 from Boone High School.

Elsie lived in the Boone area all her life. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting and all types of crafts. Elsie loved spending time with her dogs and grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Ellen Cryder; ex-husband, Tom Collins; and significant other, John Venema.

Elsie is survived by her two sons, Christopher Collins of Clermont, FL and Jonathan Crook of Boone; ex-daughter-in-law, Danielle Crook of Boone; four grandchildren, Walker Collins, Adalan Collins, Katherine Crook and Hunter Crook; siblings, Alice (Ron) Bass of Boone, Junior (Sue) Eckley of Cape Girardeau, MO, and Linda Larson of Urbandale; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Funeral arrangements are under the direction of the Schroeder-Reimers Memorial Chapel at Sixth and Marshall Streets in Boone. Online condolences may be left to Elsie’s family at www.schroedermemorialchapel.com.
