BOONE, Iowa—Elsie Marie Holmes, 58, of Boone, passed away Wednesday, October 1, 2025, at the Boone County Hospital in Boone.
Elsie was born November 14, 1966, in Boone, the daughter of Charlotte and Darold Elsberry. She attended schools in Boone and graduated from Boone High School in 1985.
Elsie enjoyed playing bingo, fishing, camping, cruising the loop with her girls in Boone. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and feeding the deer. Elsie will be missed dearly by all of her grandchildren, daughters, and anyone that had the pleasure of knowing her.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Charlotte Elsberry; father, Darold Elsberry and brother, Ronald “Ronnie” Elsberry.
Elsie is survived by her three daughters, Cheryl Holmes and Alan Pearson of Boone, Joanna and Philip Norris of Collins, and Elizabeth and Nick Jones of Jewell; grandchildren, Cassie, Jordan, Katrina, Johnathon, DaQuan, Angel, Jazmine, Jesse, Jaxson, Jenna, and Tayvin; many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends, who loved her dearly.
The family is planning a celebration for a later date.
