BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Fire Department did respond to a structure fire Thursday afternoon. The Department released this information on their Facebook page.
**STRUCTURE FIRE**
At approximately 3:06PM today the Boone Fire Department was dispatched to 703 College St. for a report of smoke coming from the roof of a house. Engine 8-65 responded with 4 firefighters and Chief 8-60 responded with the Fire Chief. Crews arrived just under 6 minutes after the 911 call was placed, finding moderate smoke coming from the roof of the structure. An all-call was requested for all off-duty firefighters to respond. Truck 8-66 and Rescue 8-64 responded with 6 additional firefighters arriving approximately 8 minutes later.
Engine 8-65 crew forced entry into the residence, finding heavy smoke and immediately began searching for victims while an attack line was put in place. A cat was found during the search but did not survive. A fire was located in the kitchen and attic which was brought under control. Both the primary search for victims and fire attack were completed within 6 minutes of arrival. The occupants were not home during the incident but reported that a dog should be present. The dog was found outside the structure and was in good condition. There were no injuries to civilians or responders during the incident. Crews remained on scene for approximately 2 hours working to ventilate smoke from the structure, check to ensure that the fire was fully extinguished and conduct preliminary investigation. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
