BOONE, Iowa—The Boone Fire Department scheduled a training for Saturday, probably not expecting temps into the upper 90’s. The training is called “Big Rig Rescue Training” and was conducted by instructors from Professional Rescue Innovations and supported by several individuals and businesses. The Boone Fire Department posted information on their Facebook page.
The Boone Fire Department played host to Big Rig Rescue Training. 16 Boone firefighters and 7 firefighters from neighboring departments were lead by the great instructors from Professional Rescue Innovations on rescue techniques from large vehicles, an infrequent but challenging task that can present itself on or off the roadways in our area. This full day class provided classroom instruction and critical hands-on experience working with large vehicles. This wouldn’t have been possible without donations from area businesses. A big thank you to Condon’s Service for donating 2 cars and the space to conduct the hands-on training, Lynch Auction Company for donating a semi-tractor, Elmquist Towing & Recovery for donating services to transport the semi tractor, MTM Trucking for the use of a semi and trailer, and the City of Boone, Iowa Public Works Department for loaning us the use of a skid loader and end loader. Temps got up to about 97 degrees but that didn’t stop us from getting some invaluable training for our area firefighters!
