ANKENY, Iowa—A DMACC Boone Campus graduate who has gone on to become an Ames Chamber of Commerce official and has served as a member of the Boone City Council has received an Outstanding Alumni Award from the DMACC Alumni Association.

Greg Piklapp, who is the Director of Economic Development Outreach and Government Relations at the Ames Chamber of Commerce, as well as a member of the Boone City Council, received the DMACC Alumni Award in a recent special award ceremony.

Piklapp graduated with an Associate of Arts degree from the DMACC Boone Campus in 2001. Since graduating, Piklapp has been an active member of the DMACC Alumni Association for the past 20 years.

Piklapp is an integral part of his community.  He serves as a Church Elder at the Stonebridge Church of Boone.

He is a member of the Board of Directors for both the Mid-Iowa Planning Alliance for Community Development and the Story County Housing Trust.  He was also instrumental in implementing several economic development successes in Bone as Chairman of the Economic Development Committee and former member of the Utility Committee and Boone County Economic Growth Corporation Board.

In presenting the award to Piklapp on behalf of the DMACC Alumni Association, Boone Campus Provost Dr. Drew Nelson said Piklapp’s knowledge of city and state government is second to none.

“His involvement in education, community service and economic development demonstrates his commitment to fostering growth and prosperity in Central Iowa,” said Nelson.

Piklapp was honored at a special dinner ceremony recently hosted by the DMACC Alumni Association and held on the DMACC Ankeny Campus.
