Frederick Jensen

KWBG 09/02/25

BOONE, Iowa—Frederick Edward Jensen, 91, of Boone, Iowa, passed away peacefully at Accura Healthcare of Ogden, Iowa, on Wednesday, August 27, 2025. A lifelong resident of Boone, Ed was born on July 10, 1934, to John Robert Jensen and Elinor (Fenton) Jensen and was baptized at the Augustana Lutheran Church.

Ed married Joyce McPherson on March 11, 1954, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Boone.

He was educated in Boone Schools and dedicated much of his life to serving others. Ed was a member of the Boone County Sportsmen’s Club, a proud Volunteer Firefighter, and a valued employee of Farmers Co-op, West Central Co-op, and later, Landus Co-op, where he was known for his strong work ethic and kind spirit, and sometimes a story or joke to make you laugh.

For many years, they enjoyed going on European Tours with good friends and for 37 years, made annual trips to Hawaii. Those Hawaiian trips would sometimes include meeting up with good friends while there, as well as two special trips that included his two daughters, both sons-in-law, and his grandsons. The grandsons will tell many stories about Grandpa Freddy, the Hawaiian adventures, especially the Nimitz Highway fiasco, which makes them all laugh every time they talk about it, and more laughs at the Holidays and in general just being around him, always making them laugh. He loved watching old westerns and various sports, but really enjoyed following both the Cyclones and the Hawkeyes.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, John Robert and Elinor; his brother, John Robert Jensen Jr.; an infant sister, Joyce; brother-in-law, Richard Carter; and sister-in-law, Claudette McPherson.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 71 years, Joyce; sister, Robyn Carter of Omaha; sister, Rosemary “Jo” (Ronald) Raschke of Athens, Georgia; sister-in-law, Marianne Jensen of Baltimore; and brother-in-law, John (Margaret) McPherson of Boone.

Ed was a loving father to daughters Lynette (Michael) Clark and Lori (Joe) Busch, all of Boone. Proud grandfather to Jordan (Sarah) Clark, Jared (Chelsea) Clark, Kyle (Janeen) Busch, all of Boone, and Tyler (Lacey) Busch of Brooklyn, Iowa. His legacy continues through his 10 great-grandchildren: Isaac, Max, Jack, Will, and Jaydon Clark, Chloe Davidson, Kingston and Roman Busch, all of Boone; Kipplee and Bishop Busch of Brooklyn. He is also fondly remembered by many nieces and nephews.

At his request, he will be cremated, and no services will be held. Memorials may be sent to the Boone Fire Fighters Association, P.O. Box 334, Boone, IA 50036, or Ogden First Responders, P.O. Box 694, Ogden, IA 50212, in his name.
