DES MOINES, Iowa—The weekly fuel report from the Iowa Department of Agriculture and Land Stewardship showed a continuing decline in gasoline prices. The average price of gasoline in Iowa fell 10 cents this week, currently at $1.54 per gallon.
Crude Oil Summary
- The price of global crude oil fell this week on the West Texas Intermediate (WTI) by $4.56 per barrel over last week, currently priced at $20.26.
- Brent crude oil fell $4.32 and currently priced at $28.11.
- One year ago, WTI crude sold for $63.40 and Brent crude was at $70.90.
Motor Fuels
- As of Wednesday, April 15, the price of regular unleaded gasoline averaged $1.54 across Iowa according to AAA.
- Prices fell $.10 from last week’s price and $1.20 lower than one year ago.
- The national average on Wednesday was $1.84 down $.07 from last week’s price.
- Retail diesel prices in Iowa fell $.04 this week with a statewide average of $2.24.
- One year ago, diesel prices averaged $2.98 in Iowa.
- The current Iowa diesel price is $.28 less than the national average of $2.52.
- Wholesale ethanol prices rose $.10, currently at $0.97.
- The current Des Moines Terminal/Rack Prices are $0.53 for U87-E10, $0.66 for Unleaded 87 (clear), ULSD#2 is at $1.04, ULSD#1 is at $1.14, and E-70 priced at $.90 per gallon.
Heating Fuels
- Natural Gas prices fell $.21 at the Henry Hub reporting site and currently priced at $1.61/MMbtu.
Continuing throughout the summer months, we will only report retail heating oil and propane prices in Iowa once a month.
