Greenspace Dedication

KWBG 06/04/21

BOONE, Iowa—The City of Boone formally dedicated the 8th and Story Greenspace Thursday.  The event coindcided with First Thursday activity planned by the city’s Arts Commission.  It also happended to be the kickoff of the Boone Farmer’s Market.  Boone Mayor John Slight commended the Greenspace Committee of Council Members Terry Moorman, Holly Stecker and Greg Piklapp.  Moorman led much of the Greenspace effort, raising over $40,000 in donations and inkind service.  He recognized many that supported the effort specifically recognizing Chad Stecker and Stecker Concrete, Todd and Amy Rasmussen and Todd, Jr. and Rasmussen Construction and the Optimists Club for the flags.  Moorman also recognized city staff that participated in the work. The City had provided initial funding through funds from the Goldthwaite Garvey bequest to the city.
