ELDORA, Iowa—A Hardin County pair have been charged with Kidnapping in the First Degree, a Class A Felony.  Traci Lynn Tyler, 39, and Alex Craig Shadlow, 30, of Ackley were arrested Wednesday, July 18th and were in custody at the Hardin County Jail.  The Hardin County Attorney, in a press release, reported that the two were held in the Hardin County Jail today on $500,000 cash only bonds.  An initial court appearance is scheduled for Thursday.

Tyler and Shadlow were arrested following an investigation into a report that a child was being held in a confined area, beneth a basement stairway and subject the 8-year old to mental and physical torture.

The charges stem from an investigation by the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation with assistance from the Ackley Police Department, the Hardin County Sheriff’s Department and the Hardin County Attorney.

The Hardin County Attorney noted that a criminal charge is merely and accusation and both are considered innocent until proven guilty.
