BOONE, Iowa—The Boone City Council selected Cory Henson to fill a vacancy on the Boone City Council Monday. Henson was supported by four council members while Sarah Dietrick was supported by two council members. Boone Mayor John Slight had said both expressed an interest in being appointed to fill the 2nd Ward Council seat vacated by BJ McGinn in late March after he moved out of the city. Both candidates met with the City Council during their regular meeting on May 1st, but the council tabled action until all six members could participate. The appointment is until the November Municipal election and Henson is expected to run for a full-term.
