HIRTA Introduces New Partnership to Encourage Shared Rides for Commuters

KWBG 01/16/24

URBANDALE, Iowa—HIRTA announced today a new partnership with Enterprise. This collaboration
aims to strengthen HIRTA’s existing vanpool program, supporting the employment needs of local
businesses and improving the daily commutes of individuals in central Iowa communities.
The partnership with Enterprise allows HIRTA to expand services. By leveraging Enterprise’s fleet of
vans, SUVs, and crossovers, the vanpool program becomes a budget-friendly and efficient solution for
commuters and employers alike. With the ability to customize routes and schedules to fit the needs of
riders, the partnership enables HIRTA to reach more areas. The vanpool program encourages
community building, providing participants with opportunities to forge new connections, save time, and
cut commuting costs.
HIRTA is committed to enhancing efficiency and reducing expenses while maintaining high-quality
service. The vanpool program offers commuters the flexibility of choosing from various vehicles,
ensuring a comfortable ride. This flexibility not only improves the daily lives of individuals but also
contributes to the overall economic and well-being of our communities.
The cost is split among the employer and/or participants, with each vanpool rider paying a set fee per
month. Enterprise will provide coordination services and technology, vehicles, liability insurance,
scheduled vehicle maintenance, and 24-hour roadside assistance.
“We are thrilled to announce our partnership with Enterprise,” said Julia Castillo, HIRTA’s Executive
Director. “This collaboration not only expands our reach but also reinforces our commitment to
providing accessible and community-centric transportation solutions. Vanpools have a positive impact
on individuals’ lives, allows businesses to widen their recruitment radius, reduce parking congestion, and
help employees save money. These benefits contribute to the overall well-being of communities.
Vanpools offer a great commuting solution with numerous benefits for both commuters and employers.
We invite you to reach out and learn more about this exciting new service.”
